Protection

Everything carGuardian stops.

The full capability list, in plain English. Each line is something the system actually does — not a marketing claim, not a comparison, not a promise we can’t defend.

Core protection

If they don’t know your code, the engine doesn’t crank.

PIN-only ignition

The car only starts after your private code is tapped on factory dashboard buttons. The system doesn’t fail-open if it’s removed, broken, or unpowered — the engine simply will not crank.

Encrypted & local

Authentication happens entirely inside the vehicle. No cellular signal, no cloud, no app required. Nothing transmitted that a thief can intercept, scan, or replay.

Invisible by design

No LED on the dash, no extra hardware on the keyring, no visible signal a thief can pick up. To anyone watching, your car looks unprotected. It is not.

No clonable signal

Your PIN sequence never leaves the dashboard buttons — nothing transmitted, nothing for a key reader or cloner to copy. The encrypted 2.4 GHz keyfob uses 128-bit AES with an accelerometer sleep mode that prevents passive relay scanning.

Anti-hijack drive-away

If you’re forced out at gunpoint, the car drives a configurable distance (typically 400–600 m) and quietly cuts the engine. Doors unlock. The hijacker leaves on foot. You are at home, unhurt.

Non-destructive fitment

No cut wires, no soldered taps. Your factory warranty stays intact. Your car can be returned to original specification by a certified installer in under an hour, without trace.

Threat map

Five attack methods. What carGuardian does to each.

Honest column: what the system does, what it doesn’t, and where the real limits are. Tested against all five in our workshop before a single unit shipped.

Attack method
carGuardian response

Relay attack · key cloning

Scanner reads your factory key signal, opens and starts the car

Closed — PIN-based auth has no RF signal to clone. Keyfob uses 128-bit AES, accelerometer sleep prevents passive scanning.

OBD / workshop diagnostic theft

Diagnostic device programs a new key via the OBD port, car drives off

Closed — CAN-bus engine permit is only issued after your PIN. A freshly programmed key still can’t crank the engine.

Hijack at the gate

Forced out at gunpoint with the engine running

Closed — drive-away anti-hijack fires at ~300–500 m after your start. Engine refuses to restart at the next stop. Doors unlock. Hijacker leaves on foot.

Module bypass · physical removal

Thief finds and removes the unit before attempting to start

Reverts to factory immobiliser — the car starts normally with the key. No fail-closed mode exists. This is the published manufacturer limit. If this threat is your primary concern, run a tracker alongside.

Flatbed tow

Vehicle winched onto a truck while parked — engine never runs

Outside scope — the engine can’t crank without your PIN, so the car leaves on the truck but can’t be driven away. Recovery is your tracker’s job from here.

Solid dot = closed by carGuardian. Open dot = known limit — we’d rather you understand the boundary than find out the hard way.

Everyday handling

Built for normal life, not just the bad day.

Service Mode

For dealer service / panelbeater. The system stays armed against theft but lets the workshop move the car around without your PIN. 24-hour default; configurable.

Valet Mode

For parking attendants, hotel valet, washbay. One-trip permission, then the system re-arms automatically. Activated from your phone or FOB.

Domestic / partner share

Share your PIN with someone you trust the way you’d share a banking PIN — or assign a separate PIN to a second authorised driver.

Cross-border travel

Botswana, Namibia, Mozambique, Zambia. The system is local to the vehicle — no signal needed, no roaming, no data. The support line answers internationally.

Flat battery recovery

The PIN sequence is stored in the system itself, not volatile memory. Jump-start, enter your PIN, drive. No re-pairing required.

Forgot the PIN

Support line. Identity verification (ID + the code we issued at install). Recovery PIN issued over the phone. Average call: under five minutes.

What we don’t do

The honest line.

Premium brands earn their name by what they refuse to claim. Three things carGuardian doesn’t do — and where the right answer lives instead.

We don’t stop a flatbed tow.

If a syndicate winches your car onto a flatbed, the engine never starts — but the car still leaves. That’s your tracker’s job, not ours. carGuardian is the prevention layer above your tracker, not its replacement.

We don’t replace your tracker.

Trackers find the car after it’s gone — that’s the recovery layer. carGuardian stops it leaving in the first place — that’s the prevention layer. Most owners run both.

We don’t have a signed insurer discount yet.

We’re a launch-month product. Insurer panels move slowly. Until your broker confirms in writing that switching keeps your premium intact, keep your current cover. We’d rather you stay covered than rush.
