How to stop your VW Amarok being stolen
A double-cab that holds its value and crosses borders easily. Which method is used against yours depends on the generation — the current Amarok starts on a button, the earlier ones on a key.

Can a VW Amarok be stolen without the key?
Yes. The current Amarok has push-button start, so a relay attack can amplify a key from inside your house. Every Amarok, including older blade-key models, is exposed to key programming through the diagnostic port.
Is the new Amarok the same as the Ford Ranger?
For our purposes the protections line up: our fitment data records the same set for the current Amarok as for the current Ranger — engine start inhibit and automatic transmission blocking. Earlier Amarok generations record a different set.
Does it protect during a hijacking?
